This is a remote shutter release for your Sony Alpha DSLR with a 10 foot cable. Works exactly as you’d expect; half press focuses the camera if you’re in AF mode, full press then releases the shutter taking the picture.
The product is indeed different from the picture as a previous reviewer stated so make sure to view his additionally added picture which is correct.
I use this remote for my A-100 and as some reviewer stated, it sometimes fails to work because the plug doesn’t get fully seated into the outlet. Make sure to really push it in there. If it’s not working, just take it out and try putting it in again. The remote just completes the circuit of the three-pin connection so if its not working, its most likely the connection and not a defective remote.
Buy the 10′ foot remote instead of the 3′ remote because it barely costs more and you can always keep the extra cordage velcro strapped up when you don’t need the extra length.
Good overall product and I plan to get tons of use out of this when taking family portraits that I want to be in and when taking tripod mounted long exposure shots.
Happy shooting.

Item arrived in a timely manor. Package not damaged.
Connected to my Sony Ax100.
Would not work after many, many trys.
Took 10′ cord to Wolf Camera for help.
They could not get it to work.
Tried to contact Sony about problem.
No help.
You win some, you loose some, some are not worth
the hassle.

This is a good remote release cord that does what it’s supposed to do, and for a price that’s a mere fraction of what I’d have had to pay for the genuine Sony remote cord. Plus, the fact that it has a 10-ft cord — in lieu of the shorter, standard length — increases the scope of its possible uses. A version with a 3-foot cord is available for five dollars less, but I feel that the 10-foot cord is well worth the slightly higher price. Just a few minor quibbles …
1. The button feels kind of mushy, with the transition between “half-press” and “full-press” not very firm or well-defined. This makes me wonder how durable it’s going to be in the long run. However, it works as it’s supposed to (at least for now), and considering that I could buy four of these with the money the genuine Sony remote (with the shorter cord) would have cost me, I find this to be an acceptable compromise.
2. The molded right-angle connector that plugs into the camera faces forward when installed. Personally, I would have been happy with a straight connector. But if the connector has to be the 90-degree type, I wish they’d at least made it to point toward the back of the camera, instead of the front.
3. The Amazon-supplied photo at the top of the page is not an accurate portrayal of this remote. I have uploaded a snapshot of what this remote *really* looks like; and as you can see, both the handle and the connector plug are different to those shown in the Amazon photo. But that’s okay — I like the actual layout of the handle much better than I would have liked the one shown in the Amazon photo.

I haven’t had a chance to use it much, but for the price I wanted one to have for the occasion I needed it. It seems to work great and a much better price than the brand name one.

Really nice product for the price. I would like to eventually go to a wireless remote, but for now this is perfect! Recommend for anyone who is a photographer on a budget!
